Major Update to Hardcore Wipe in Escape from Tarkov
Battlestate Games has announced that it will reduce the boss spawn rate in Escape from Tarkov’s hardcore mode from 100% to 70%. This change is aimed at addressing player feedback following the hardcore wipe that was introduced in July 2025, which reset character progress.
The hardcore wipe had initially guaranteed boss spawns, significantly increasing the difficulty for solo players. Experienced players, however, were able to exploit this feature, allowing coordinated teams to farm high-tier loot effectively.
To mitigate the backlash from players who found the hardcore difficulty too challenging, this reduction in boss frequency is intended to slow the progression curve and make the game more accessible. However, opinions on whether this change is beneficial or detrimental remain divided within the community.
In addition to modifying the boss spawn rate, Battlestate Games has integrated new maps into the game’s raid rotation, alongside assuring fans that these changes will be the last major updates before the much-anticipated launch of version 1.0, expected in late 2025.
