The Summer Update for Norland: A Major Expansion of Gameplay Mechanics

The new update for Norland introduces significant changes, including a political system, an economy based on gold, and more realistic medieval buildings, enhancing the gameplay experience substantially.

Fair play to Norland’s developer Long Jaunt, who has issued patches that are substantial. Back in March, their “damn big update” revolutionized several core mechanics of the medieval colony simulator, such as character needs and the functionality of crime and punishment. The latest update, termed the ‘big summer update’, is set to overhaul the game to an even greater extent.

Key Features of the Update

Political Dynamics: This update introduces a politics system where lords can become politicians if their loyalty decreases, leading to potential rebellions.

Economic Mechanics: Lords now possess their own gold, facilitating trades and altering how they engage in community economics. This change allows for more direct involvement with in-game currencies.

Building Overhaul: Part two of the update enhances Norland’s building system to ensure that settlements look more authentically medieval, reshaping residential structures into a universal design and introducing more intricate living spaces.

Dmitry Glaznev emphasizes the aim to incorporate a Crusader Kings-style politics into Norland, making this update substantial and foundational for future improvements.
