Witchfire Set to Release Major Update Inspired by Classic Games

The upcoming Webgrave update for Witchfire promises to be the largest yet, introducing new mechanics and a novel area.

Witchfire, a first-person shooter developed by The Astronauts, has been in development for almost a decade and is set to release its largest update yet, named Webgrave, on July 28.

The update will introduce a new area called the Blighted Town, various new weaponry including the Oracle sniper rifle, which can shoot through walls, and a lever-action rifle known as Nemesis. In addition to these additions, the update will significantly overhaul many core mechanics of the game.

Chmielarz mentioned that players can expect a systems overhaul inspired by classic game mechanics, likening it to research systems found in games like Syndicate.

“Syndicate had many brilliant mechanics, with its research system being one of them. You could commission research on weapons or gear, which took a fair bit of time to complete…” _"…but we really mean it that this is going to be our biggest update."

The update also introduces a new stat system and a secondary mechanic called the Rosary, similar to mechanics in Bloodborne, aimed at enhancing player strategies.
