Upcoming Resident Evil Game to Feature Iconic Characters Like Leon and Jill

A new mobile game, Resident Evil Survival Unit, will reintroduce beloved characters including Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine, offering a fresh experience for fans.

One of the most acclaimed horror franchises, Resident Evil, is set to launch a new mobile game titled Resident Evil Survival Unit in late 2025. This announcement was made during the Anime Expo 2025. The game is geared to provide an experience distinct from traditional Resident Evil gameplay, but it features familiar characters that are sure to thrill fans.

Executive producer Shinji Hashimoto, who previously worked with Square Enix, is leading the project after his retirement in 2022. His extensive experience with Final Fantasy development will play a significant role in the game’s creation.

In the new game, several iconic characters such as Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Carlos Oliveira will return to aid players. Players will find themselves awakening in an abandoned hospital after being captured by Umbrella Corp, from which they will form teams of three, strategically balancing their characters’ strengths. Notably, minor characters like Robert Kendo, from Resident Evil 2, will also be included, allowing for diverse gameplay options.

In addition to these characters, players will encounter terrifying new foes designed by renowned artist Yoshitaka Amano, known for his work in the Final Fantasy series, further enhancing the ominous atmosphere of the game.
