Dungeons & Dragons seems to be experiencing a significant loss of talent, as Jess Lanzillo, the former VP of franchise and product for D&D, has transitioned to White Wolf, the company behind the famed TTRPG, Vampire: The Masquerade. Lanzillo, who spent eight years with Wizards of the Coast, alongside contributions to Magic: The Gathering, will now serve as the creative director of the World of Darkness franchise.
Lanzillo expressed her enthusiasm about her new role in a recent statement, highlighting her commitment to nurturing the unique aspects of the game’s lore and ensuring they engage with a wider audience. The acquisition marks a strategic move by White Wolf, as they aim to position World of Darkness as a leading brand in the horror entertainment sector.
Past notable departures from D&D include Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford, both moving to Critical Role’s Darrington Press after lengthy tenures at Wizards of the Coast. The recent shift raises questions about the future of D&D and signals a shifting landscape in the tabletop gaming market.
