New Indications of a Red Dead Redemption 2 Upgrade Emerge
Gamers have discovered fresh hints suggesting that a current-generation upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2 may be in the pipeline.
Recently, fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 have unearthed new clues suggesting a potential upgrade for current-generation consoles is imminent. Rumors of such an upgrade have circulated for some time. This could be an ideal opportunity for Rockstar to occupy players while they await the arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6.
Launched in 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, Red Dead Redemption 2 is esteemed as one of Rockstar’s most engrossing titles, later released on PC and Google Stadia in 2019. Despite the demand, the game has not received a formidable next-generation upgrade. Nevertheless, speculation about an upgrade surfaced earlier this year, with reports from insiders indicating it might be released for the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, potentially in late 2025.
A player known as Livid-Army-5857 recently highlighted evidence on Rockstar Support’s website suggesting an option for “Online migration” pertaining to Red Dead Online. Historically, a similar feature was available when GTA 5 launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, allowing users to migrate their GTA Online characters. After this discovery, the online migration option was swiftly removed from the site, though other users confirmed they had seen it as well.
Fans have long been advocating for a Red Dead Redemption 2 current-generation upgrade, which would significantly enhance their experience while waiting for GTA 6. Imagined features include support for 60 FPS and enhanced graphical fidelity. Nevertheless, it’s prudent to approach this news with caution until Rockstar provides official confirmation. Recently, the game also received a notable update called “Strange Tales of the West,” introducing supernatural elements to Red Dead Online, similar to the classic Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare DLC. This development may indicate that Rockstar is still engaged in enhancing RDR2, strengthening the hope for a genuine upgrade.
