Steam Experiences Temporary Outage But Is Now Restored

Steam is down again. For users accessing the platform today, it seems that connectivity issues may be more common than anticipated. While many players reported being unable to log in, numerous other issues surfaced—particularly for those engaged in live service titles such as Destiny 2. The downtime was noted to be especially worrisome given the unusual timing on a Thursday, which diverges from Valve’s regular Tuesday maintenance schedule.

3:50 PM PST: It appears that Steam is back online. Friends lists are functional, downloads have recommenced, and players should have full access to their games once more. Was this simply an odd twist of scheduled maintenance?

According to SteamDB, over half a million users checked to see if the service had issues, demonstrating the significant impact of the outage. Not only did users report trouble signing in, but the store’s functionality was apparently slow to respond or completely unresponsive for many.
