Charity Auction of the GameStop Stapler that Damaged a Switch 2 Breaks $100,000

A GameStop stapler linked to a memorable incident involving the Nintendo Switch 2 is being auctioned for charity, with bids exceeding $100,000.

A GameStop employee made headlines recently by accidentally stapling customer receipts directly to the boxes of Nintendo’s Switch 2, causing damage to several consoles during a busy launch day.

To make light of the situation, GameStop is now auctioning off the stapler that caused the infamous incident, alongside a refurbished Switch 2 and an authentic certificate of the items from the ‘Staplegate’ incident, personally signed by CEO Ryan Cohen. Additionally, a pair of the CEO’s Fruit of the Loom underwear will be included if bidding tops $100,000, which it has already surpassed.

The auction proceeds will support the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Cohen added the underwear as a novelty to further entice bidders, leading to a surge in interest when the auction began with an initial bid of $9,999.

This quirky charity auction highlights not only the unusual incident but also the community’s generous spirit for a good cause, proving that sometimes, even mishaps can lead to positive outcomes.
