Devolver Digital Continues Its Jabs at Randy Pitchford Over Borderlands 4 Pricing Comment

After publicly apologizing, Devolver Digital keeps poking fun at Gearbox's CEO Randy Pitchford over his controversial statement regarding the $80 price tag for Borderlands 4.

Devolver Digital has not yet moved on from its playful teasing of Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox Software. The company continues to poke fun at him following his earlier comment about the anticipated price of $80 for Borderlands 4.

Borderlands 4, set to launch on September 12, is expected to introduce players to a new planet called Kairos along with a variety of new playable vault hunters. Despite some backlash, the first impressions of the game have been overwhelmingly positive.

Back in May, Pitchford drew criticism for telling a concerned fan that if they are a true fan of the game, they would manage to afford the projected $80 price tag. This comment was seen as dismissive, especially during a time when gamers are already worried about rising costs. In response, Devolver Digital joined the conversation, joking on Twitter that for the same amount as one copy of Borderlands 4, players could buy four copies of their new co-op FPS Mycopunk.

Later, Gearbox confirmed a reduced price of $70 for Borderlands 4, which has alleviated some of the tension. However, Devolver is still making light of the situation, recently reminding fans they could buy 4.6 copies of Mycopunk for that price.

Overall, while Devolver Digital maintains its lighthearted engagement with the subject, it cleverly promotes Mycopunk as an appealing option for fans eagerly awaiting Borderlands 4.
