Petition Emerges to Preserve Anthem as Server Shutdown Approaches

Fans rally to save Anthem, a game scheduled for closure, via a petition aimed at EA.

Despite being discontinued, the live-service game Anthem, developed by BioWare and published by EA, has sparked a movement among its fans. With servers set to shut down on January 12, 2026, players are signing a Change.org petition to compel EA to safeguard the game’s legacy. The petition already boasts hundreds of signatures.

Released in 2019, Anthem was mired in criticism for its narrative flaws and gameplay mechanics, leading to its eventual discontinuation by BioWare in 2021. The new petition seeks to have EA release server files or make the game playable offline, echoing wider movements like “Stop Killing Games”, which aims to prevent publishers from cutting access to games without providing an offline alternative.
