Funcom recently faced challenges due to errors from a patch intended for its survival MMO, Dune: Awakening. An unintended effect of the update resulted in certain PvE areas being converted to PvP, leading to many players losing bases and gear. Funcom expressed regret over this situation and has committed to addressing the losses by restoring affected items to players by the week’s end.
“We’re incredibly sorry that this happened and we want to acknowledge that this should have been handled better,” Funcom remarked.
The studio emphasized that they have altered their processes to improve future updates and are prioritizing the elimination of exploits within the game. As a result of this incident, players can expect reimbursements for lost items to be available in the in-game ‘Claim Rewards’ section in the next few days.
Funcom’s focus now lies on bettering the overall player experience and taking a firm stance against cheating. Hundreds have already been banned for misconduct, with more enforcement actions planned. In acknowledging this setback, the developer reassured players that they aim to enhance interactions and balance between PvE and PvP gameplay.
