In another twist of fate, the long-awaited horror game Routine is reportedly back in development as the team from Lunar Software shared they are nearing the finish line.
Routine originated as a promising game showcased on Steam Greenlight, which went silent for many years. It had originally captured attention due to its unique atmosphere, combining horror elements with a sci-fi aesthetic reminiscent of 1970s films.
In a July 2025 update, developers confirmed, “Routine is still very much in active development, and we are beginning to approach the finish line for the game.” They emphasized the necessity of maintaining focus, leading to the prolonged silence. Furthermore, the beloved composer Mick Gordon, who worked on audio assets for the project, left due to scheduling conflicts, leaving the audio direction in the hands of a new team.
The developers are excited about the upcoming progress updates, although they have not committed to a specific release timeline just yet.
As they put it, “We’ve learned a lot from past experiences… we’ll be able to share more news on that front soon.” Hopefully, this will mark the final revival of Routine, ensuring gamers can eventually uncover its mysteries.
