After Three Years of Attempts, LOTRO's Great Hobbit Run Concludes in Unexpected Triumph

A group of players in Lord of the Rings Online successfully completes the Great Hobbit Run by reaching Mount Doom, albeit under comical circumstances.

The Great Hobbit Run is a tradition in Lord of the Rings Online that poses the humorous question: what if a horde of new players skipped the game’s serious questing to run directly to Mount Doom?

Conducted by Twitch streamer BurkeBlack, the run involved level one hobbits and culminated in a light-hearted celebration at Mount Doom. Initially met with setbacks in previous years, 2025 marked a successful trek after many attempts, leading to cheers and a group photo near the volcanic site.

Despite losing their way in the dark, the sense of achievement was palpable. After leaping into the lava, BurkeBlack remarked:

“This is great. Three years in the running, here we are before Mount Doom. Just throw in the ring and there’s gonna be more than enough, and Sauron can kiss my butt!”

The enthusiasm for future runs is already building, as participants look ahead to making even more memorable adventures.
