Multiple Fallout projects are allegedly underway at Bethesda, according to VGC journalist Jordan Middler, indicating that fans may soon be treated to a new installment in the beloved series. The Fallout franchise, which delves into the consequences of a nuclear conflict between the U.S. and China and is known for its unique aesthetic and humor, first appeared in 1997 under Black Isle Studios, later being developed by Bethesda starting with Fallout 3.
The most recent entry, Fallout 76, originally released in 2018, faced challenges at launch, but has improved through numerous updates. It is set in 2102 and allows players to assume the role of a Vault 76 resident navigating the vast Appalachian wilderness to start anew.
Speaking during the Friends Per Second podcast, Middler remarked, “Fallout is the big one. There are multiple Fallout projects in development, including, as far as I’m aware, that one that I’m sure you’re all wanting. It’s not far enough along to say anything like ‘you’re going to be playing this game anytime soon.’” While fans eagerly await news about the fifth major entry in the series, discussions about potential titles, including a New Vegas sequel or a remaster of Fallout 3, are already taking place.
On a related note, the second season of the Fallout live-action series from Amazon is set to explore the New Vegas narrative, with the premiere scheduled for December 2025, promising a return to several iconic locations from the game.
