Overwatch 2 Hints at Another Crossover Event in Season 17

Overwatch 2 appears to be teasing a potential second crossover event for Season 17, building on its recent G.I. Joe collaboration.

In the latest developments for Overwatch 2, players have discovered Nerf-themed items across various maps, which suggests a forthcoming collaboration with the toy brand. Although no official announcement has been made, evidence hints that Season 17 might feature a second crossover event.

Previously, Overwatch 2 initiated a collaboration with G.I. Joe. Historically, most seasons generally have only one crossover; however, Season 16 deviated from that by including collaborations with Gundam Wing and Street Fighter 6.

New items like Nerf vortex footballs appeared in maps such as Watchpoint: Gibraltar and Rialto, indicating that Season 17 may similarly provide exciting content. This information was corroborated by footage viewed in the Overwatch 2 Season 17 trailer.

Potential Collaboration with Nerf

Interestingly, this wouldn’t be the first instance of Overwatch and Nerf collaborating. In 2019 and 2020, Nerf launched products inspired by the weapons of various Overwatch characters, including Cassidy and D.Va. It’s plausible that should this new collaboration materialize, it could introduce weapon skins inspired by Nerf designs.

As Season 17 is scheduled to conclude on August 19, any additional announcements or teasers would likely occur toward the end of July or the beginning of August, coinciding with the expected mid-Season 17 update. While current clues point to an exciting crossover, it’s noteworthy to consider that these Easter eggs might not signify an entire collaboration.

In the meantime, fans are eagerly anticipating Season 18, which is set to introduce a new hero named Wuyang. The upcoming season promises to include extensive changes and further exciting collaborations.
