After a dominant performance, Virtus.pro has officially knocked out G2 in their opening match of the IEM Katowice’s second stage. This victory was especially noteworthy for the revitalized squad, marking their first win over a top-tier team in months. Meanwhile, G2 now faces elimination as they are slated to meet the Falcons, who include their former star player, NiKo, in a high-stakes matchup.
“The job is not done,” remarked captain Denis “electroNic” Sharipov after the win. “We have proven that we can compete, but we also have to address our mistakes moving forward.”
The upcoming match will be pivotal for both G2, who will either face an elimination with the potential to regroup, or for NiKo, who could see the early exit of his cousins Kovač and their team. The match will take place on February 2, 2025, at 16:00.
