Rust Developer Revamps Mission System for Enhanced Gameplay Experience
The latest update for Rust features an improved mission creation system along with new gameplay mechanics.
Rust’s recent update brings significant enhancements to the survival game’s feature set. The standout addition is a revamped mission system designed to speed up the creation of new in-game quests, allowing developers at Facepunch Studios to generate missions more efficiently.
This update includes a new party system enabling players to enter servers as a group, improving the multiplayer experience. Recent changes now allow players to unlock new spawn points by assisting the Hazmat-suited NPC, CZ-721.
As the studio stated, “We all want to make more missions and flesh this system out but the process to create new missions internally is quite cumbersome and error prone.”
The new tools implemented aim to automate the time-consuming aspects of mission creation, and while they are still being refined, more missions are expected in the coming months. Other gameplay mechanics have also been improved, including a system for better positioning deployables and adjustments to the patrol helicopter’s behavior.
One of the notable enhancements is Rust’s “improved erosion” simulation, which aims at making the in-game environment more realistic by creating more natural terrain blends across mountains and lakes.
Future updates will introduce naval gameplay options, allowing players to construct and use boats for various in-game activities.
