A Pokemon GO Player's Bad Luck Ends After Seven Years and 105,000 Catches
A player of Pokemon GO finally captures their first two rare 'shundos' after years of unsuccessful attempts.
A Pokemon GO player has finally broken a long-standing streak of misfortune with the game, managing to catch two “shundos” within hours of each other. Pokemon GO features different metrics that define the rarity of Pokemon, ranging from their base stats to their appearances. Shiny Pokemon have been a notable aspect of the franchise since its second generation, with Pokemon GO providing players with opportunities to discover these colorful variants. However, one type, known as ‘shundo’, has been particularly hard to find for fans.
For those tracking their Pokemon GO stats, a “hundo” is among the strongest Pokemon a player can encounter. A “hundo” generally refers to any Pokemon with maximized stats for Attack, Defense, and HP, recognized as “four-star” Pokemon, indicated by a special pink border for their star ratings. “Shundos” are fan-named Pokemon that not only have max stats but also possess the Shiny variant, making them extremely challenging to capture. Yet one player has triumphantly ended their streak of bad luck with shundos.
A Reddit user by the name of Mtrees2404 shared their remarkable turnaround after years of dreadful luck, which came after they caught over 105,000 Pokemon across their seven years of playing. Despite their extensive collection, they never managed to catch a shundo until now. In a dramatic twist, they announced that they captured two Shiny hundo Eevees in just three hours. Excited, the player plans to evolve them into Umbreon and Jolteon.
Responses to the post saw various players recounting their own histories with trying to obtain perfect Pokemon in Pokemon GO. One user recounted starting the game during its launch week, having only successfully caught one Shiny hundo and two hundo Legendary Pokemon since then. Others expressed their enthusiasm for Pokemon GO’s ongoing Eevee Community Day Classic, eager for a chance to obtain a shiny Eevee of their own.
With July’s release of a new Eevee event set to coincide with many exciting limited-time celebrations, Niantic has announced the addition of Tatsugiri to the game as part of the “Water Festival 2025”. Each Tatsugiri form will be exclusive to specific regions worldwide, and fans can look forward to welcoming Honedge and its evolutions to Pokemon GO later this month. It looks like July will be a thrilling month for Pokemon GO enthusiasts.
