DeTechtive 2112 appears visually stunning but ultimately disappoints as a game. Set in a gritty, post-apocalyptic England, players take on the role of a depressed noir detective clad in a stylish jacket. Although the game was released recently on Steam, the initial excitement about the concept quickly fades into frustration.

While the trailer suggests an engaging experience, players find that the gameplay resembles an inferior version of Hotline Miami. The missions involve shooting numerous foes with minimal variation in tactics or dialogue, leading to a lackluster experience. Players can approach missions stealthily or go in guns blazing, but the outcome remains frustratingly similar.

The presence of a ‘detective vision’ mode offers little utility, as it highlights only a few interactive elements in the environment. Furthermore, bizarre choices in weapon mechanics—such as all firearms inexplicably using the same ammo type—suggest hasty development and localization.

Despite the redeeming qualities of detailed visuals, the overall execution falls short, making DeTechtive 2112 seem like an empty vessel failing to deliver on its ambitious premise. It is currently available on Steam at a budget-friendly price.
