Upcoming Tournament Mode for Rematch Set to Enhance Competitive Play
Developers at Sloclap have recently unveiled plans to introduce a tournament mode for Rematch, aiming to expand its competitive scene. Since launching on June 19, the game attracted over 92,000 players on day one, establishing a dedicated community amidst a slight decrease in activity over time.
In a blog post detailing future updates, Sloclap highlighted crossplay, gameplay tweaks, and community features as priorities, with tournament mode being a key addition. This will encourage players to either form teams with friends or join others via matchmaking, reported Pierre Tarno. Tournaments will be scheduled events, distinct from everyday matches, and they are anticipated to create a more strategic gameplay loop.
Details suggest that tournaments will be structured to include 16 teams competing in a single-elimination format, or possibly a double-elimination setup, measured within approximately two hours. The community-driven aspect of club creation gives players the option to organize clubs based on real-life locations, supporting an immersive experience within the soccer genre.
This advancement marks a significant enhancement in Rematch’s competitive framework, although its success will vary based on the player base to facilitate equitable matchmaking.
