Have you ever dreamt of attaching a pair of Joy-Cons to your compact 12-inch laptop? While it might not have crossed many people’s minds, designer Sskki_TheBlindDemon has successfully done just that, creating a unique gaming experience that makes Nintendo’s diminutive controllers appear even smaller.
As shared through the official Framework account on X, Sskki has documented their process in a blog, producing 3D printable model schematics for the Joy-Con rail component.
This rail slots into the Framework 12 expansion slot, and while primarily serving to hold the Joy-Cons, there are plans to develop circuitry that would allow them to charge while in use.
Sskki notes, “Having custom SMD assembled PCBs is a bit too expensive for me at the moment, so I decided to just make dummy Joy-Con holders without charging.”

The Framework 12, acknowledged for its modular design and high repairability, encourages creative experimentation. Sskki has expressed a desire to slim down the rail to avoid obstructing adjacent expansion ports and to implement charging circuitry for the Joy-Cons.
