The medieval city builder Foundation has officially exploded into version 1.0, concluding six years in early access. First explored in 2019, it has emerged as a beloved title, offering a serene building experience that continuously evolves with updates.
What’s New in the 1.0 Update
The latest update introduces a multitude of enhancements, leading the developers at Polymorph Games to suggest it might feel like “a whole new game!” Key features include:
- A revised main menu and revamped user interface
- Extensive difficulty customizations for personalized gameplay
- A new editor allowing players to create and modify their village banner
- New residential building tiers and improved progression system
- A complete overhaul of artistic elements
For players who have been engaging with Foundation during its early access phase, there is a catch: the significant changes mean older cities will not transfer to the 1.0 version. Don’t worry, though; Polymorph offers a rollback option to version 0.9 via the Steam Beta settings, allowing you to continue with your previous builds. Just keep in mind that version 0.9 will likely not receive updates in the future.
Starting anew in a city builder often brings fresh excitement, and this major launch serves as a perfect excuse to dive back in and get creative.
You can grab Foundation on Steam, currently with a 25% discount until February 14. Check out the 1.0 launch trailer here!
