Techland has recently revealed the cancellation of two undisclosed titles associated with the popular Dying Light series. This announcement has brought disappointment to many fans eager to discover what the creators had planned after releasing Dying Light: The Beast.
Founded in 1991, Techland is a Polish video game developer known for its successful franchises, including Call of Juarez and Dying Light. The Dying Light franchise has seen tremendous success, with over 30 million copies sold across its titles.
Recent financial statements indicate that Techland faced 135 million zł ($37.3 million) in losses for 2024 and 90 million zł ($25 million) in 2023, primarily due to the lack of new releases since Dying Light 2: Stay Human launched in 2022. Although the unnamed canceled projects remain a mystery, it is speculated that one may have been an open-world fantasy RPG announced in 2022.
Looking forward, Techland is expected to reveal a new project to substitute for the two canceled titles, aiming to keep the fanbase engaged.
Despite the recent cancellations, Techland continues to support Dying Light 2, releasing minor updates and improvements. Their next significant project is set to be Dying Light: The Beast, scheduled for release on August 22, 2025. This game is planned to include the original protagonist, Kyle Crane, and promises features such as smarter AI for human enemies and more immersive gameplay.
