Intel Delays New Desktop CPUs Until 2026: Insights from Interim CEO

Intel's interim co-CEO reveals that the company will not launch new desktop CPUs until 2026, with next-gen Nova Lake slated for that year.

Intel has announced that there will be no new desktop CPUs launched until 2026, as indicated by Michelle Holthaus, the company’s interim CEO, during a recent earnings call. Holthaus stated, “2026 is even more exciting from a client perspective as Panther Lake achieves meaningful volumes, and we introduce our next-generation client family code-named Nova Lake.”

Nova Lake will replace the current Arrow Lake series of chips. The revelation regarding Nova Lake’s launch comes as Intel continues to develop its technologies, but it is unlikely to see any new CPU architectures before this anticipated date. Though many are expecting Arrow Lake to receive a minor refresh, whether this will significantly impact its competitiveness in the market remains uncertain.
