WWE 2K25 for Switch 2 Comes with a Major Download Requirement

The upcoming release of WWE 2K25 for Nintendo Switch 2 introduces a significant condition for physical copies requiring an internet connection for download.

WWE 2K25 is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this month, but players should note a critical stipulation regarding its physical version. In April, the game’s publisher, 2K, confirmed during a Nintendo Direct presentation that WWE 2K25 would be available on the new console.

The title is scheduled to debut on July 23 and will incorporate all the thrilling gameplay mechanics from previous versions, including its online multiplayer mode that was previously omitted on older platforms due to hardware constraints. Additionally, pre-orders for the game, available in various editions, will grant players access to the Wyatt Sicks DLC character pack.

However, there is a notable issue with the physical copies of WWE 2K25. Despite being marketed as physical products, these versions will only include a download code, requiring players to connect to the internet to access the game. This detail surfaced towards the conclusion of the announcement trailer, revealing a disclaimer about the need to download the game even with a physical case.

The trailer mentions that a ‘Key-Card’ may be necessary to download the game; however, the product packaging merely states that a full game download is included, leaving many consumers puzzled about the actual contents of the case. This decision has ignited discussions among gamers about the future of physical media and game preservation, given that a so-called physical game box does not contain the actual game.

As fans gear up for the WWE 2K25 launch on the Switch 2, they must be mindful of this download-only stipulation.
