Randy Pitchford Queries Fans on Future Borderlands Exclusivity Deals, Nearly 10,000 Respond: 'Just Release On Steam'

Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox Software, recently asked fans about their willingness to pre-order Borderlands 4 if it influenced exclusivity agreements. The overwhelming sentiment suggests a strong preference for Steam.

Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox Software, is once again in the spotlight, this time for asking the community their thoughts on pre-ordering Borderlands 4.

In a recent tweet, Pitchford questioned fans if they would consider pre-ordering the game on their preferred platform, stating it could impact future exclusivity decisions.

“Suits thinking about exclusives between EGS and Steam. Would you pre-order Borderlands 4 on your favorite platform if you knew that would influence exclusivity decisions?”

This survey gathered responses from nearly 10,000 users, with a staggering 91% identifying as Steam users. Of these, 53.9% were in favor of pre-ordering to potentially guide future exclusivity deals, while 37.7% opposed it.

Conversely, Epic Games Store users showed minimal interest, underscoring a clear preference: gamers want their titles available on the platforms they already use.

The broad response highlights a significant trend—gamers are not just looking for quality content but also where they can conveniently access it. The landscape of gaming is ever-evolving, but one thing remains clear: fans have spoken, and it’s Steam they want.
