Blizzard has taken rapid action to address a troubling gameplay imbalance in Diablo 4, following the discovery of a powerful build that allowed players to teleport and obliterate enemies excessively. This issue arose during testing of the new Horadric Spellcrafting feature, which lets players create custom spells. Many players found a combination that enabled near-infinite teleportation.
A player posted on Reddit, “New teleport tech from s9 powers is going to enable speed farming for all classes if it doesn’t get nerfed.”

Systems Designer Aislyn Hall commented, “It was transformative—so transformative to the point that it was actually stomping on build identity in many cases. We really want you to experience the full breadth of what different characters can offer in Diablo 4, we don’t want it all to be condensed down to one thing.”
The adjustment looked to preserve the integrity of character builds by modifying the spell’s cooldown mechanics. The focus now is on making sure each character has unique capabilities rather than allowing one build to overshadow them all.
As Charles Dunn stated, this latest situation serves as a reminder of why public test realms are crucial for balancing games effectively. “If you looked at clips of players, it looked identical, which isn’t the healthy gameplay we want for Diablo 4.”
Blizzard aims to maintain a diverse and engaging experience for all players, ensuring no single build dominates the game.
