Censorship Concerns Lead to Review Bombing of Tactical Shooter Ready or Not

The tactical shooter Ready or Not faces backlash for censorship ahead of its console release, resulting in a wave of negative reviews on Steam.

The tactical shooter Ready or Not is experiencing negative reviews on Steam as players express their discontent with the game’s developer over recent censorship decisions. The game, which has been available on PC for several years, is set to launch on consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on July 15, 2025.

Since entering early access in 2021, the game has steadily engaged users, peaking at over 55K concurrent players during its recent launch. Recently, in light of preparing for console versions, Void Interactive announced modifications to the game’s content, reducing graphic violence and nudity to comply with console requirements. Some of these content adjustments will also apply to the PC version to enable cross-play.

This decision led to disapproval from existing PC players, prompting many to participate in a review bombing initiative on Steam. The game’s Recent Reviews rating fell to Mixed, with 36% of user feedback deemed negative, reflecting that the backlash is far from over. The studio now faces challenges in managing the strong criticism as the console launch approaches.

As fans voice their concerns over the censorship decisions, many feel that the existing PC community should not suffer due to console adaptations.
