Nintendo Switch 2's GameChat Feature Comes with a 24-Hour Limit
The Nintendo Switch 2's GameChat feature, popular among players, will automatically end sessions after 24 hours, ensuring users take necessary breaks.
GameChat is a significant feature of the Nintendo Switch 2, popular among gamers, but it has a time constraint: sessions will automatically close after 24 hours. The Switch 2 offers enhanced capabilities compared to its predecessor, making it easier for players to connect and enjoy games together, regardless of their location.
Before the full reveal of the Switch 2 in April, fans were eager to learn about the new C button on the Joy-Cons, which launches a GameChat session. This session accommodates up to 12 players, allowing four to share their screens simultaneously.
For security, participants must add friends to their list to prevent unauthorized access to their chats. As many gaming enthusiasts tend to play through the night during thrilling sessions, the 24-hour limit ensures players take necessary breaks.
According to reports from Nintendo Soup and YouTuber Nathaniel Bandy, users will receive a warning 30 minutes before the session ends, with reminders at five and one minute prior to closure. Although currently free, access to GameChat will require an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription starting April 1, 2026.
More features of Switch 2 include improvements in eShop speed, Joy-Con controls, sound quality, and storage capacity, enabling it to run more demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. As one of the most anticipated launches set for 2025, the Switch 2 sold three million units on its launch day, breaking previous records. Gamers continue to seek this console amidst ongoing stock challenges.
