Ahead of a new update, Blizzard has revealed some balance changes for Diablo 4 Season 9 involving Uniques. When Diablo 4 Season 9 launches, there will be affix changes to certain Uniques, along with some tuning and rebalancing for Druid Uniques.
Season 8 began on April 29 and introduced a slew of new features and content, including a collaboration with Kentaro Miura’s iconic Berserk manga and the return of Belial as a new boss. As June heads toward its conclusion, Diablo 4 is preparing for the launch of Season 9, Sins of the Horadrim, on July 1. The season will introduce a new questline, calling on Diablo 4 players to find and purge relics influenced by Astaroth’s blood.
As the season’s name teases, the seasonal mechanic will be Horadric Spellcraft, allowing players to add spells like Corrosive Vapor, Glacial Nimbus, Smoldering Ember, and Thunderous Particle to their arsenal.
Like previous updates, several changes to weapons and gear items are expected in Season 9.
Patch notes for the Diablo 4 Season 9 update revealed that Uniques will receive major buffs, nerfs, and affix changes. The Druid’s Greatstaff of the Crone Ancestral Unique Staff will get a power boost for Storm Strike, increasing damage from 170-250% to 200-350%. Furthermore, Boulder damage for the Dolmen Stone Ancestral Unique Amulet will rise from 20-40% to 30-50%.
The Bloodless Scream Ancestral Unique Two-Handed Spear for Diablo 4’s Necromancer class will see various affix changes. The Intelligence bonus will be normalized, and the Freeze Duration Affix will change to Lucky Hit, granting a chance to restore resources. This adjustment could offer up to 40% chance to deal between 8,500 and 13,500 Shadow damage. The ranks for Darkness Skills will increase, enhancing the Bloodless Scream’s effectiveness.
Rogue’s Eaglehorn Ancestral Unique Bow will have its Penetrating Shot ability modified to always bounce off at least once, while the Eyes in the Dark Ancestral Unique Pants will receive a nerf, lowering the Death Trap ability bonus damage from 100-250% to 40-60%. This nerf guarantees the bonus will be granted on every cast.
Season 9 has no clear end date yet, but further updates and balancing changes are expected as Blizzard continuously assesses feedback throughout the season.
