Rainbow Six Siege X Currency Adjustments Aimed at Easing Player Grind

Ubisoft responds to player feedback on Renown currency rates in Rainbow Six Siege X, announcing adjustments to improve player experience.

The free currency system in Rainbow Six Siege X is undergoing changes following player concerns about reduced Renown gains since the transition to the new model. Players indicated that the Renown rewards had diminished by around 10%, particularly after losses in matches.

With the game going free-to-play and introducing a new premium tier of cosmetic bundles, players have been increasingly wary of the perceived monetization shifts. In a recent conversation with PC Gamer, Creative Director Alex Karpazis remarked on the lowered Renown payouts, affirming that a ‘buff’ to the currency system has been initiated following community feedback.

Karpazis stated, “We have noticed that we do have a smaller payout, something close to 10% less than what we used to have before Siege X’s launch. As of a couple of hours ago, we have made a buff to that. We’ve seen the communication online and we acknowledge it in the data as well.”

It’s still uncertain if match rewards will revert entirely to the pre-Siege X values due to new Renown rewards stemming from daily and weekly challenges. Karpazis explained the aim is not to intensify the grind but to ensure newer players with limited gaming time can still obtain rewards more effectively.

“The goal is not to change the amount of grind to unlock operators or anything in the game. However, we wanted it so that players who had less time, maybe they can only play a match or two a day, can get more rewards for that time,” he added. Moreover, a secondary intention lies in equalizing the Renown payouts across various game modes to avoid any single mode being favored for grinding.
