Fortnite's Battle Royale Gets More Challenging

Epic Games adjusts the bot count in Fortnite's Battle Royale mode, potentially increasing the game's difficulty for players.

The developers of Fortnite have recently made notable changes to the bots present in the Battle Royale mode, which might enhance the game’s challenge. Bots were introduced to Fortnite in 2019 to assist new players, but many users have voiced concerns about how these elements affect game difficulty. Following the popularity of the new Blitz Royale mode, it appears Epic Games recognizes the demand for a more challenging gameplay experience.

Many players have expressed frustration regarding the presence of bots in Fortnite, finding them easy to recognize and eliminate. While this feature benefits novices, seasoned players may feel less rewarded when easily dispatching whole teams of bots. Keeping this sentiment in mind, Fortnite has decided to implement a significant alteration in the bot formula within Battle Royale.

According to updates from HYPEX on Twitter, the cap on bots in Battle Royale has been reduced from 75 to 65 per match. Consequently, every Battle Royale match will feature a minimum of 35 real players, making it more challenging. However, this change appears exclusive to Battle Royale, and no adjustments are indicated for other modes as of now.

This shift follows several years of reports highlighting Epic Games’ increasing bot numbers. It coincides with the announcement that Fortnite’s Blitz Royale mode will continue, suggesting a heightened difficulty for specific players. While this alteration may seem minor, it could notably transform gaming strategies.

This decision also follows Fortnite’s recent updates to controller aim assist, aimed at leveling the playing field for console players. Rather than solely increasing game difficulty, the adjustments appear aimed at maintaining balance after giving a significant advantage to many players. Therefore, players may need to exert more effort to secure a Victory Royale in Fortnite this summer.
