Return of Battle Royale Solos to Call of Duty: Warzone

Developer Raven Software announces the reinstatement of Battle Royale Solos mode in Call of Duty: Warzone after its controversial removal.

Call of Duty: Warzone developer Raven Software has confirmed the return of the Battle Royale Solos mode today, after it was unexpectedly removed last month. The previous mode was succeeded by Battle Royale Casual Solos, which predominantly features bot players, causing frustration among fans. Raven Software justified the switch stating it was necessary to keep playlists manageable.

The backlash from the community was significant, but it coincided with other unpopular updates for Season 4, such as the unexpected in-game advertisements that were later reversed by the studio, who claimed the feature was a mistake.

Raven Software’s recent blog post states that Solos merges back into the lineup alongside its Casual variant, enabling players to experience the original format without bot crowded lobbies. While some appreciated the easier matching of the Casual variant, the majority are pleased to see the traditional mode’s return. Interestingly, Activision noted that the Casual Solos version actually attracted threefold more players to the Solos experience.

Battle Royale Solos: A Disputed Playlist

Despite the clamor for its reinstatement, Activision disclosed that the Solos mode was historically the least favored option within its various playlists. It was being culled to allow faster matchmaking—something the community has been requesting.

With new features like Resurgence Casual set to debut with Season 4 Reloaded, players can look forward to a refreshing addition to the game’s lineup. This upcoming mode is expected to combine real players and bots, making matches accessible yet competitive.
