Funcom Tests New Dune: Awakening PvE Areas Amid Player Feedback

Funcom is trialing a PvE zone in Dune: Awakening, greatly adjusting the previously PvP-heavy Deep Desert region.

In a significant update for the survival MMO Dune: Awakening, Funcom is exploring the introduction of a PvE-only zone in the Deep Desert region, addressing previous player concerns about the overwhelming PvP environment.

Players have expressed dissatisfaction over the PvP aspect dominating most of the Deep Desert, which is the main area for finding vital resources like spice.

Funcom’s Creative Director Joel Bylos indicated that certain sections of the Deep Desert would be reclassified as ‘Partial Warfare (PvE)’ zones, enabling players to gather resources without fear of being attacked by others. This change potentially reduces the PvP presence from 90% to about 50%.

The update is currently being tested on a public client, where players can experience these modifications firsthand. This significant feedback-driven change is a bold move, showing that the company is attentive to community input.

For further developments, players can monitor the situation as feedback from the test client is taken into account before these changes are potentially implemented in the main game.
