After more than a month of waiting, Grand Theft Auto 6 has finally made its way to the Xbox Store, allowing users to wishlist the game ahead of its launch the following year. Unlike the PlayStation Store, Xbox Series X/S players can now download a small pre-load file of about 300 MB when adding Grand Theft Auto 6 to their wishlist; however, this file is merely a placeholder and does not contain the entire game.
Last month, Rockstar Games surprised fans with the release of the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, a nearly three-minute video filled with new footage. This trailer came with an updated website, showcasing over 70 fresh screenshots and extensive details about the game’s features and characters. The main characters confirmed are Jason and Lucia, who will navigate a perilous world rife with criminal adventures, relying on each other throughout their journey.
Xbox Users Can Now Wishlist GTA 6
Following the second trailer’s debut, Rockstar launched an official product page for Grand Theft Auto 6 on the PlayStation Store that featured its release date and the option to add it to wishlists. Unfortunately, Xbox users had to wait until recently for similar access.
The small preload file downloaded when adding Grand Theft Auto 6 to wishlists on Xbox Series X/S differs from the experience on PlayStation, which does not offer this feature. Rockstar has confirmed that the game had to be delayed to May 26, 2026, to ensure it meets fan expectations after initially being slated for Fall 2025.
At present, there is no confirmed date for when Grand Theft Auto 6 might be available on PC, as the previous title, Grand Theft Auto 5, took almost two years for a PC version to launch.
