Overwatch 2 Season 17 Bug Allows Heroes to Select Extra Perks
A significant bug in Overwatch 2 Season 17 facilitates heroes in acquiring multiple perks, resulting in noticeable gameplay issues.
An Overwatch 2 glitch in Season 17 is allowing heroes to select three or even four Perks during matches. While this bug will likely be fixed promptly, the extra Perks are currently causing gameplay issues in the latest Overwatch 2 update.
Recently, Overwatch 2 Season 17 went live, introducing major changes, including a refreshed Battle Pass, the first dual Mythic skin launch, and new content such as the Aatlis Flashpoint map for Core Overwatch 2, along with three new heroes and numerous balance adjustments for both game modes.
However, a game-breaking glitch has emerged where players report characters being able to choose additional perks. An Overwatch 2 fan known as Stanners14 discovered this in the Practice Range and found that by rapidly pressing buttons, the interface allowed selection of perks at each tier.

This is not an expected feature. Perks generally serve as powerful modifiers that significantly alter gameplay for each hero, and typically, a hero can select only one Minor and Major Perk. Allowing four at once could lead to extreme imbalances, particularly benefiting specific characters.
Given the seriousness of this bug, players can expect a fix soon. However, trying to reproduce the glitch – particularly in Competitive Play – could result in penalties from Blizzard for exploiting the issue.
Moreover, players also face other issues such as login queues as large as 20,000, gigantic patch sizes (up to 37GB on Xbox), and more. Blizzard is actively working to resolve these problems, which means patience is advised for those waiting to play.
While awaiting solutions, Overwatch 2 fans can earn two Loot Boxes as Twitch Drops until July 6 by viewing five hours of any streamer within the Overwatch 2 category and claiming items from their Twitch inventory.
