Possible New Pokemon TCG Set Linked to Recent Game Freak Trademark

Speculation arises as a new Game Freak trademark suggests an upcoming Pokemon TCG expansion themed around Rayquaza.

A new Game Freak trademark may indicate that a new Pokemon TCG release is on the way. This release might be an expansion centered around Rayquaza, sparking excitement among fans of this Gen 3 Pokémon.

While not every trademark filed leads to a product, previous filings by Game Freak have sometimes unveiled upcoming Pokemon TCG expansions. For instance, in September 2024, trademarks for Black Bolt and White Flare emerged, which later became a new card expansion released in Japan in June 2025, with an English release afterward.

Currently, a new trademark called Storm Emerald, spotted by PokeBeach, was also filed by Game Freak. While specific details about the set are limited, speculation is rife, fueled by the association of previous Pokémon TCG trademarks. The name suggests a Rayquaza theme, especially since Rayquaza was featured in Pokemon Emerald. Alongside this, the expected timeline based on past trademarks suggests a likely launch around late 2025, with the Japanese version coming first, followed by the English counterpart.

The remainder of the year shows a busy schedule for Pokemon TCG fans, with the English version of Black Bolt and White Flare set to arrive in July and several new launches planned in Japan, affirming an exciting time for collectors.
