New Cooperative Game PEAK Achieves 1 Million Sales in a Week
Explore how an indie climbing game, PEAK, became a sensation on Steam shortly after its launch.
A newly released co-op indie climbing game titled Peak is rapidly gaining popularity on Steam, achieving 1 million sales in just six days. Released on June 16, the game has seen a continuous increase in its player base, climbing to become one of the top-most played titles on Steam shortly after its launch.
Developed by Landfall and Aggro Crab, Peak is designed for cooperative gameplay, accommodating up to four players. It takes players on an adventure on an uncharted island where they portray nature scouts tasked with traversing procedurally generated landscapes. The game incorporates survival elements such as limited stamina, item scavenging, and innovative features like proximity chat that enhance coordination among players during gameplay. Peak was particularly successful on Twitch, generating laughter and replayability through its hilarious gameplay moments, much like other co-op games such as Phasmophobia and REPO.
According to Aggro Crab, the developers celebrated this milestone on BlueSky, thanking gamers for their support and acknowledging the game’s revenue, which has outpaced popular AAA titles such as Dune: Awakening and Elden Ring: Nightreign. This success can also be attributed to its attractive price point of $3.99, currently discounted to $2.47.
As of the latest update, Peak has garnered 62,461 active users, with a peak of 102,799 within the last 24 hours. Player feedback highlights the fun gameplay and its affordability as key reasons behind its extraordinary reception.
In reaction to the immense player turnout, the developers have rolled out patches to resolve significant bugs and performance issues, aiming to refine player experiences amid unexpected demand. A noteworthy patch has addressed the âTropics crashâ issue encountered on AMD systems, temporarily disabling certain elements within the game until a lasting fix is implemented. New features, such as the option to set lobbies to ‘Invite Only’ and a ‘Give Up’ functionality, have been added as well.
With its ongoing success, Peak invites co-op gaming enthusiasts to experience its exciting features.
