Xbox's June 2025 Update Unveils New Features Across Platforms
The June 2025 update enhances the Xbox experience with a host of new features for consoles, PC, and the mobile app.
Microsoft has started the rollout of the Xbox June 2025 update across Xbox One, Series X/S, PC, and the mobile app. This update introduces enhanced UI options, added cloud gaming functionalities, improved in-game bonus visibility, a unified PC games library, and more.
In recent years, Microsoft has expanded the Xbox ecosystem beyond traditional consoles. Initiatives like Game Pass, Play Anywhere, and Cloud Gaming are central to this evolution, aiming to create a seamless Xbox experience across multiple platforms, including Series X/S, PC, and mobile, with simultaneous monthly updates. Additionally, Microsoft has recently started porting Xbox games to competing platforms like the PS5 and Nintendo Switch, indicating the brand’s future is not confined to a single device.
Among the most noteworthy features of the Xbox June 2025 update is the beta launch of Copilot for Gaming on mobile (expected on ROG Xbox Ally this holiday), designed as an AI assistant to help players with tips and guidance during gameplay. For PC users, Xbox Insiders now have access to a consolidated game library aggregating titles from Xbox, Game Pass, Battle.net, and other notable storefronts, potentially including Steam and Epic Games Store.
Additional Features
New publisher channels have been incorporated into the Game Pass section of the Xbox PC app, allowing users to discover games from their preferred developers more easily. Console users now have new customization options for the Most Recently Used section of the Xbox dashboard, enabling them to pin favorite games or hide unnecessary system applications. Furthermore, Game Hubs are now available, providing a detailed overview of any selected title, which includes stats, achievements, add-ons, and more. The cloud save feature has also been enhanced with updated sync progress indicators and informative error messages, while free-to-play titles more clearly show the benefits that Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can unlock, such as skins and unlockable characters.
Additionally, Microsoft is intensifying its commitment to game preservation; this update adds five classic games to Xbox’s Retro Classics collection: Cosmic Commuter, Heart of China, Skiing, Solar Storm, and Subterranea. The timing of these releases raises questions, especially after reports surfaced about Xbox developing a significant emulation platform for its classic titles, potentially allowing these older titles to be playable on modern hardware with graphical enhancements and bug fixes. However, these developments remain unconfirmed, prompting Xbox fans to approach such rumors cautiously.
