New Insights Revealed on the Cancelled Batman Project

Fresh artwork depicting the abandoned Batman game, known as Project Sabbath, emerges, showcasing several key characters.

A new collection of concept art for the long-abandoned Batman game, nicknamed Project Sabbath, has surfaced.

While there have been numerous leaks regarding this canceled game, the latest images provide the clearest look at pivotal characters, including an aged Bruce Wayne.

Although not officially confirmed, Project Sabbath has intrigued Batman aficionados since discussions began around six years prior. Developed by WB Games Montreal, it was meant to succeed 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight. This project would have featured Damian Wayne taking on the mantle of Gotham’s Dark Knight, set in a future timeline following Bruce Wayne’s retirement. Ultimately, Project Sabbath was canceled to make way for Gotham Knights, which hit the market in 2022 with a lukewarm response.

Recently, new character designs have also been unveiled, including a notably older Bruce Wayne who appears slightly frail, much like the Bruce from Batman Beyond. Damian is portrayed in an agile suit distinguished by blue eyes and a short haircut. Killer Croc also received several design iterations, some resembling human attributes rather than his grotesque appearance in previous titles.

It’s disheartening to see yet another promising DC game cut short, especially after the cancellation of a Wonder Woman game earlier this year. Nonetheless, WB continues to express confidence in their leading franchises, such as Batman and the Harry Potter universe.
