Frost Giant’s StarCraft Inspired Game Finally Introduces Its Long-Awaited Feature
After nearly a year since its launch, Stormgate, developed by Frost Giant Studios, has finally added stormgates—the feature that inspired the game’s very name. Previously, players were puzzled as to why stormgates were absent from the gameplay.
In a recent Steam blog post, Frost Giant mentioned, “We called the game Stormgate, yet we didn’t actually have any stormgates. That changes now!” This new addition is expected to significantly impact the gameplay dynamics, as stormgates will act as dimensional rifts marked by massive arcane storms at crucial locations on the 1v1 maps.
Players can interact with these gates to receive randomised rewards that could radically alter their strategic approach. For instance, one new item, the Soulforge Relic, lets players clone a friendly unit, while the Swarm Mother can release groups of Swarmlings. The intent behind these features is to enhance player engagements and strategy development during matches, moving away from less popular mechanics in the previous iterations.
The community has responded enthusiastically to this update, and Frost Giant’s commitment to evolving Stormgate demonstrates a strong willingness to listen to player feedback. Stormgates are now available in 1v1 matches, with plans for broader integration in the future.
