Simu Liu Confirms He Is Collaborating on a Sleeping Dogs Movie

Marvel's Simu Liu states he is working with the rights holders to adapt the popular game Sleeping Dogs into a movie, following an inquiry from a Twitter user.

It’s not every day that exciting news about video games or movies comes from a simple question posed on social media. On Twitter, a user asked Marvel star Simu Liu about the potential for a Sleeping Dogs film, and he responded with enthusiasm.

“Working with the rights holders to bring Sleeping Dogs to the big screen!” Liu publicly affirmed, opening the door for speculation about the project’s future.

The conversation started when an influencer shared gameplay from the acclaimed 2012 action game. Another Twitter user echoed the desire for a movie and tagged Liu.

This news comes as a relief for fans, especially since a movie adaptation featuring Donnie Yen was previously canceled. Liu’s long-standing desire to be involved with Sleeping Dogs was evident in a 2021 Reddit AMA, where he expressed his eagerness to star in the adaptation, mentioning, “Sleeping Dogs was pretty lit.”

With growing interest from both fans and the gaming industry, it seems likely that progress will be made towards bringing Liu’s vision to life. We will keep you updated on any developments as they occur.
