A Duke Nukem TV Series in the Works by Producer of Devil May Cry and Castlevania

Adi Shankar has acquired the rights to develop a Duke Nukem TV series, promising an unconventional approach.

Have you ever wished for a Duke Nukem television series? It might just be happening. Adi Shankar, the producer known for his work on Devil May Cry and Castlevania, announced that he has secured the rights to create a series based on the iconic character.

In an interview with Esquire, Shankar expressed his excitement about the project, stating that he is not merely looking to recreate a brand, but to offer a unique take on the character. “I bought the rights to Duke Nukem. Not the gaming rights, but I bought it from Gearbox,” he revealed. Shankar emphasized that he wants complete creative freedom, saying, “Duke Nukem can’t be made by a corporation, because the moment a corporation makes Duke Nukem, it’s no longer Duke Nukem. I don’t intend on having anyone tell me what to do on this one.”

Shankar, a fan of the franchise since 2001, also hinted at more projects in production involving video games and mentioned that he is being approached by multiple companies interested in collaboration.

This proposed series could mark an intriguing revival for the franchise, characterized by Shankar’s innovative storytelling approach. Whether this adaptation will resonate with audiences remains to be seen, but it undoubtedly has sparked interest within the gaming community.
