The action RPG Lies of P has officially surpassed three million copies sold, nearly two years following its debut on PC and consoles. This milestone follows the shadow release of the game’s DLC, Lies of P: Overture, on June 6, 2025.
The South Korean company Neowiz made waves with its distinct dark twist on the classic narrative of Pinocchio, launching the game back in 2023. Despite being part of Xbox Game Pass from day one, the game achieved impressive sales, reaching one million copies within just a month of its release. Following this success, a new expansion titled Lies of P: Overture was revealed in February 2025 and received positive feedback. The DLC significantly boosted player interest and contributed to the recent sales surge.
The official announcement declared that Lies of P reached three million sold copies roughly 21 months post-launch, building on the previous milestone of one million copies achieved in October 2023. Notably, the game was a day-one title on Game Pass and only left the subscription service in March 2025, which likely impacted its sales rates. Consequently, the sold units might not fully represent the actual number of players, which reportedly reached seven million by March 2024.
Interestingly, the timing of this sales achievement coincides with the release of the eagerly awaited DLC. It is clear that Lies of P: Overture, which offers a wealth of new content, has greatly increased engagement with the original game. On Steam, the DLC facilitated Lies of P in breaking its previous peak player count, achieving a new record of 30,095 concurrent players. Recent discounts on the base game, including a 50% price cut, may also have contributed to the impressive sales figures.
As fans immerse themselves back into the world of Krat with the arrival of Overture, the Neowiz development team is diligently working on a sequel to Lies of P. Plans for a follow-up were confirmed shortly after the initial game’s launch, indicating that development may already be deeply in progress. In earlier reports, the company outlined that the sequel is anticipated to launch during FY2026, which spans from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027.
