New Insights on Donkey Kong Bananza Reveal Pauline's Role

Nintendo has confirmed Pauline's involvement in the upcoming Donkey Kong Bananza game, linking her to a storyline with Donkey Kong.

Donkey Kong Bananza has just been unveiled at the recent Nintendo Direct, confirming that Pauline is returning as part of the storyline. When the game was first teased in April, fans noticed a mysterious girl alongside Donkey Kong (DK) in promotional artwork. Speculations arose that this might symbolize a prequel to Super Mario Odyssey.

The girl, resembling Pauline who played a key role in the original Donkey Kong game as the character in distress, has been missing from the series for a while. However, she made a comeback in Super Mario Odyssey, taking on the role of mayor in New Donk City. Since then, she’s appeared in several spin-offs like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart World.

In a recent trailer, it was confirmed that Pauline appears as a younger version of herself, aiding DK in his quest to find a mystical wish-granting banana hoard while attempting to return to her world after being transported to Ingot Isle. This narrative twist has ignited theories regarding its connection with previous games in the franchise.
