Rematch Community Voices Concerns Over Selfish Players

Players of the new football game Rematch express frustration over those who hog the ball during matches, calling for a more team-oriented approach.

Rematch isn’t a game made for solo players. The goalkeepers have endless stamina, it’s easy to take the ball away from ball hogs, and a lone player’s panic shot is usually predictable. However, that hasn’t prevented some players from spending money on the Ronaldinho skin and treating the ball as if it were their only focus.

The game is currently in early access on Steam, and feedback from players on Reddit has highlighted a shared annoyance towards those who exhibit what’s being called “anime protagonist syndrome.” Many players are criticizing these characters who are designed to mirror soccer manga style, particularly from Blue Lock.

“During the beta, I found it odd that every ‘wanna-be Messi’ seemed to have the same hairstyle and no skill to pass the ball,” shared one player on Reddit.

Player Feedback

Interestingly, users are not holding back. One commented, “If you’re wearing the Ronaldinho skin, you’re usually the worst player on the field. They act like they’re the best and refuse to work with the team. I’ll just quit the game if I see one in the lobby.”

In stark contrast, many players are genuinely enjoying the game and getting familiar with it. “Playing Rematch all weekend made me realize that everything portrayed in Blue Lock is justified—it feels that intense!” stated another user.

A lot of frustration seems to stem from players who do not pass. Discussions are occurring on whether there should be a visible mechanic to incentivize teamwork. One Redditor proposed, “Without a penalty, what motive do they have to cooperate?” Meanwhile, another argued that the ultimate penalty is simply losing the game.

It’s clear that dominating gameplay won’t win players favor; the real skill lies in teamwork. Players must learn to collaborate to thrive in this new football match setting. “Instead of vilifying those who play as if they know everything from Blue Lock, why can’t we just play together and have fun?” said one community member in an attempt to foster camaraderie among players.

If you’re interested in joining this new gaming phenomenon, you can find Rematch available on Steam.
