Nexus Mods' New Management Vows to Keep Site Free of Monetization Concerns Amid User Anxiety
Following the departure of its founder, Nexus Mods assures users that the platform will not be monetized adversely, addressing worries about venture capital influence.
After 24 years leading Nexus Mods, the prominent modding site, founder Robin ‘Dark0ne’ Scott has stepped down, citing the stressful toll of managing its vast community. In his stead, a new ownership group aims to quell user fears about potential monetization. The company, referred to only by first names in Scott’s announcement, is backed by Chosen, known for its aggressive growth strategies. This raised alarms over the future direction of Nexus Mods.
Scott reassured users that the core principles of free modding will persist, emphasizing that current management will remain closely integrated with the community. “We won’t compromise on what’s made Nexus Mods special,” stated the new management, reflecting a commitment to transparency and user engagement.
As users fret over venture capital motivations, one of the new leaders, Foledinho, conveyed a promise of stability, declaring, “Mods will always remain free, and we have no plans for aggressive monetization.”
