Exciting Update for Nintendo Switch 2 Users of Gex Trilogy

Limited Run Games announces a compatibility update for the Gex Trilogy set to launch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

Limited Run Games has shared great news for fans regarding the Gex Trilogy, indicating that a compatibility update for the Nintendo Switch 2 is currently under review with Nintendo as the game approaches its launch on various platforms slated for June 16.

The update will be included on all physical cartridges distributed in late October. Initially released in 1995 on the 3DO console, the original Gex was a 2D platform game from Crystal Dynamics, featuring the iconic gecko character. The game was later re-released on PlayStation and other platforms. The series evolved into 3D gameplay with subsequent titles like Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. After a long hiatus, the franchise made a comeback in 2024 with the announcement of a Gex Trilogy revival across major gaming systems.

The compatibility update for the Switch version of Gex Trilogy will enable gameplay on the new console, resolving current compatibility warnings present on the eShop. Users will receive an update once the approval process concludes, ensuring a smooth gameplay experience on the Switch 2.

It’s worth noting that the original Switch players will not face any issues playing Gex Trilogy. The update for the Switch 2 will also be incorporated into all physical editions released in late October. Fans have until July 6 to pre-order physical copies and the special Gex-themed controller from CRKD.

In summary, while original Gex games saw their end with the PlayStation, the new Gex Trilogy is set to treat both returning and new fans to a nostalgic journey. The release timing of the Switch 2 update remains uncertain, but anticipation is high as fans await further details.
