An Engineering Prototype of RTX 3080 Ti with 20 GB Found for Sale at $2,000

An unusual engineering sample of the RTX 3080 Ti featuring 20 GB of VRAM has surfaced on eBay, leading to speculation about Nvidia's original plans for the graphics card.

In the world of high-performance graphics, a remarkable discovery has been made—a 20 GB engineering sample of the RTX 3080 Ti is now listed on eBay for $2,000, confirming Nvidia’s experimental designs. While the conventional RTX 3080 Ti came with 12 GB of memory, this prototype comes with a notable increase in VRAM, featuring extra memory chips on its PCB’s rear side. It appears not to be intended for sale, as indicated by a sticker that reads: “Not for sale, for development only.”

Evidence suggests that this engineering model was almost available to the public, although Nvidia eventually opted for the 12 GB configuration. This prototype proves that Nvidia toyed with various configurations before settling on the final product.
