Dexter's Patrick Gibson Likely Cast as James Bond in 007: First Light

Speculations arise around Patrick Gibson as the new James Bond in IO Interactive's 007: First Light.

It is becoming increasingly probable that Patrick Gibson will portray James Bond in the upcoming video game 007: First Light. Although IO Interactive has not yet made an official announcement regarding the casting, hints suggest Gibson, known for his role in Dexter: Original Sin, is set to take on the iconic character.

The game was initially revealed in 2020, but only recently has the title and initial details been made public. 007: First Light aims to present a fresh interpretation of Bond, specifically showcasing a younger version of the character, in contrast to the seasoned persona seen in previous adaptations. The revealing trailers suggest an innovative portrayal of Bond as a rookie in his mid-20s.

Gibson himself has fueled speculation by confirming to Emmy magazine that he is currently involved in a video game project. Given that Bond is designed to resemble him, expectations are high that he will be stepping into the shoes of this legendary spy.

Patrick Gibson’s Rise to Fame

Gibson’s recent rise in popularity can largely be credited to his acclaimed performance in Dexter: Original Sin, a prequel to the iconic Dexter series. He portrays a young Dexter Morgan navigating his complex early life as a serial killer. Many had concerns regarding the casting choice, given Michael C. Hall’s iconic portrayal of Dexter, but Gibson’s performance has largely been praised.

Following his success in the series, Gibson is expected to reprise his role in the upcoming Season 2 of Dexter: Original Sin on Paramount+. Meanwhile, it is likely that further confirmations about his role as Bond in 007: First Light will emerge in the coming months.
